Inika Pure Primer contains a therapeutic blend of ingredients that offer protection and hydration for the skin prior to foundation application. Pure Primer calms and soothes the skin, providing an even canvas on which to apply your foundation. How to apply mineral foundation

Dip your Inika Vegan Kabuki Brush into the powder and work into the bristles ensuring the brush is evenly coated.

Tap off the excess powder, turn the brush bristles up and tap lightly against a hard surface to settle the powder.

Apply in light downward strokes all over the face. For heavier coverage, use a circular buffing motion, swirling all over the face.
The Vegan Kabuki brush is the key to applying our mineral cosmetics in a professional manner. It has been designed to work specifically with your Inika powders. You can also use a latex sponge for a more matte finish.
Do not add more mineral makeup to the brush when working around the eye area. It will have a tendency to settle into the lines around your eyes.
The secret to using mineral makeup is to apply it in very sheer layers. It is the light refracting qualities of the pure minerals that give it the ability to cover the skin naturally and allow your inner beauty to shine forth.
For those with dry, flaky skin, Inika Mineral Foundations can be blended with moisturizers to create a crème foundation. First moisturize as usual, and then tap a small amount of powder into the palm of the hand. Add a drop of moisturizer. Blend the two products together until a smooth, creamy consistency is achieved. Use your fingers or make-up wedge to apply.
For the perfect medium-light coverage with oil controlling properties, blend equal amounts of Inika Mineral Foundation and Inika Setting Powder.
For post laser surgery: Do not apply minerals over a heavy petrolatum based balm or heavy cream. Makeup will get cakey.
If you have very dry skin, you can spritz a little skin freshener on top. This will re-hydrate your skin and take away a dry or flaky look.
Also, if you mist with the skin freshener, and then use a flocked sponge or brush to lightly smooth your make up in a downward motion; you will minimize the appearance of large pores.

Choosing the correct colour
To find a colour that matches your skin tone try the following:
MF 7 Grace (Very Fair) White skin, which burns in the sun.
MF 8 Strength (Light Fair) Fair skin that burns easily, English rose complexions.
MF 10 Unity (Fair) Light medium skin tone.
MF 12 Faith (Pink) Fair and pink toned skin.
MF 13 Nuture (Medium tone) Average colour skin.
MF 15 Trust (Olive) Slightly tanned skin.
MF 17 Passion (Tanned) Yellow tan based skin tone.
MF 18 Freedom (Very tanned) Average/darker skin.
MF 21 Inspiration (Dark) Golden tone for darker complexions.
MF 24 Respect (Deep Dark) Deeper darker tone for women of colour.
MF 26 Courage (Darkest) Darkest tone for women of colour.
It is best to test foundation in natural light. Otherwise you could find once you go outside, the shade may be too dark. The purpose of foundation is to even out the skin tone. Sometimes once you have done this, you may look slightly washed out. This is because you have taken away all the natural contours of the face. Use bronzer to bring colour and warmth back to your features.
Inika Mineral Setting Powder
Mineral setting powder can be used in several ways, as an oil absorber before foundation application, or after to create a matte finish. It can also help reduce the appearance of large pores.

Shake the pot with the lid on to bring a small amount of setting powder into the sifter.

Press the powder into the Kabuki brush. Work the powder into the Kabuki brush bristles and ensure the brush is evenly coated.

Tap off excess and turn the brush bristles-up and tap it lightly on the counter to settle the powder into the brush.

Blend onto the face using short, vertical and/or horizontal strokes. This will allow for more even foundation coverage and increased staying power.
Oily Skin: For maximum oil absorption, apply before foundation application. Use your Kabuki or a cosmetic sponge to apply.
Large Pores: To reduce the appearance of large pores, apply dry with a sponge or use our Kabuki brush in circular motion to buff it into the skin before foundation application. After you have applied your foundation, dampen a cotton pad (ever so slightly) and lightly pat over your pores.
Matte Finish: To create a matte finish, dust Mineral Setting Powder over foundation with Kabuki brush.
Oil absorber/Other: To prime lips and eye area for long lasting makeup, press with small brush before colour applications.
